Texas police find a body that could belong to a missing young Cuban woman

Mariadelis Labrador Siles, 28 years old, left her home on Monday for a morning walk without a wallet or cell phone, and she never returned. The police are treating the case as a possible homicide.

The authorities in San Antonio, Texas, announced that they found the body of a woman in a wooded area of the city while conducting a search for a Cuban young woman who was reported missing.

According to Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County, the body seems to match that of Mariadelis Labrador Siles, the 28-year-old Cuban who went missing last Monday, March 10.

The discovery occurred on Wednesday near Braun Road and Mustang Ranch, in the northwestern part of the county, in an area close to Highway 1604 and Bandera Road, places that Mariadelis used to frequent, according to her boyfriend.

Despite the similarities in physical characteristics and location, Salazar warned that it is still too early to definitively confirm the woman's identity, as the case is under investigation.

The County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct the necessary tests to confirm the identity of the body and determine the cause and manner of death. However, the sheriff reported that the young woman appeared to show signs of trauma, which led authorities to treat the case as a possible homicide.

Mariadelis, who left her home on Monday morning for a morning walk, never returned, which sparked an intense search by local authorities and her family.

Worried about her disappearance, her loved ones feared that she might be in danger, especially since the girl left home without her wallet or her cell phone.

The official added that they were working with a private organization that conducts search and rescue operations with dogs.

According to the report from My San Antonio, the animals led investigators to the Braun Road area, but they lost the scent on Tuesday night. The following morning, the police searched the area and found the body.

Authorities have urged the community to come forward with any relevant information regarding the case. To assist in the investigation, citizens can contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at (210) 335-6000 or via email at missingpersons@bexar.org.
