A tragic traffic accident occurred this morning at the entrance of Alamar in Habana del Este, resulting in one fatality, as confirmed by witnesses on social media.

According to the initial reports, the deceased -a man whose identity has not been revealed- was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Vía Blanca, at the height of the so-called "Loma de Alamar", near the turn signal.
The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m., a time of heavy vehicle traffic in that area.
Images shared on social media show a modern car with damage to the front, while just a few meters away, lying on the pavement and covered with a black tarp, is the body of the victim.
The accident caused traffic congestion on the Vía Blanca.
"On Vía Blanca, right on the hill by the dog cemetery, it appears that a man crossing the street was struck by a vehicle and died on the spot," reported a witness.
A third user commented on social media that it was a “elderly man who lived in Alamar but had his farm down the slope. The impact was very harsh.”
It was also revealed that the victim may have been caught off guard by the poor visibility of the stretch, as some neighbors noted that the area remains dark at that hour and that vehicles do not always dim their high beams.
Some speculated that, judging by the visible damage to the car, the impact was significant, which could be attributed to the driver's excessive speed.
However, several internet users called for not making hasty judgments, as sometimes the cause of fatal accidents is the responsibility of pedestrians rather than drivers.
As of the closure of this note, there are no other confirmed details about the tragic traffic incident.
Since the beginning of 2025, a rising number of deaths from traffic accidents has been reported in Cuba.
In one of the most recent cases, a tragic traffic accident that occurred on the afternoon of last Friday in Santa Fe, in the Playa municipality of Havana, resulted in the death of a mother and injuries to her minor daughter after they were hit by a minibus commonly known as "gacelas."
