A young motorist died Thursday night near Plaza Antonio Maceo in Santiago de Cuba, following a collision between a motorcycle and a pedicab that was requesting right of way to transport an underage girl who was under the influence of drugs.

According to local sources reported by journalist Yosmany Mayeta, the vehicle was requesting passage, but the driver was proceeding with the green light, and at that exact moment, they collided.

The young man, 30 years old and identified as Miguel Argüelles, is said to have died instantly after lying down on the street.

Argüelles was not the motorcycle driver. The driver of the lightweight vehicle fractured a leg, for which he underwent surgery, and also sustained head injuries.

The injured person is admitted to the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital.

"He was a young fighter. He traveled and bought a house in dalle 4 de Mariana de la Torre. This hurts me so much! The good ones are leaving," said a neighbor about the young deceased, who would have turned 31 years old on the upcoming April 27.

Mayeta Labrada indicated that she would be 17 years old and is currently admitted to the Northern Children's Hospital, known as "La Ondi." So far, nothing is known about her health status or her identity.
