A 28-year-old Cuban citizen identified as Reinaldo Trujillo Sánchez was arrested this Wednesday after shooting another man in both legs during a financial dispute in Miami.

The incident occurred last Friday around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street, according to the Miami police.

A trusting relationship that ended in violence

According to the authorities -quoted by Local 10- Trujillo Sánchez and the victim had known each other for several months after being introduced by a mutual friend.

The relationship between them included an informal agreement: the victim, who did have a bank account, allowed Trujillo to deposit and withdraw money in their name, as he did not have an account of his own.

The dispute arose when Trujillo believed he had deposited $1,000 in the victim's account, but the transaction was never processed.

This led him to mistakenly suspect that the other person had withdrawn the money without his consent.

The encounter and the shots

On April 4th, the victim went to a Wells Fargo branch on Biscayne Boulevard to inquire about the failed transaction.

Trujillo Sánchez arrived shortly after and waited for him by his vehicle.

Once the victim left the bank, both got into the car with the intention of discussing the issue.

During the trip, the conversation turned tense. The victim noticed that Trujillo was carrying a revolver with him.

In an attempt to control the situation, the driver stopped the vehicle and tried to remove the suspect.

At that moment, a struggle broke out that ended with two shots fired into the victim's legs.

Trujillo then took control of the car and fled north on Northwest Seventh Avenue.

The victim was quickly transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

Detention and investigation

Days later, the victim identified Trujillo in a photo lineup.

The police managed to arrest him on Wednesday and found a silver revolver in his vehicle that matched the weapon described by the victim.

Trujillo Sánchez now faces charges of armed robbery, vehicle theft, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The man was placed in the custody of the Immigration Service at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK).

As of the closing of this report, the immigration status of the aggressor is unknown.
