Many families rely on solidarity and creativity to be able to feed themselves, cooking with charcoal due to the shortage of gas and facing blackouts that ruin stored food.

Extended blackouts severely impact the daily lives of Cubans. Without electricity, it is impossible to preserve food, and cooking becomes a daily challenge. Additionally, the lack of refrigeration and ventilation leads to discomfort and health issues, especially during heat waves.

Faced with a gas shortage, many Cubans are turning to coal for cooking. This situation is exacerbated by blackouts and a lack of financial resources, forcing families to seek creative alternatives for preparing their daily meals, such as cooking outdoors or sharing with neighbors.

Inflation has significantly reduced the purchasing power of Cuban workers. With skyrocketing prices for basic food items and wages that don't align with the economic reality, many families cannot access essential products, increasing dependence on remittances and the private sector.
