A Camagüey mother, identified as Yosleydis Rodríguez Rodríguez, staged a solitary protest this Thursday in front of the Provincial Government headquarters in Camagüey, due to the ongoing blackouts and the state neglect affecting the population.

Residing in the La Güernica neighborhood, the woman arrived at the government building visibly upset and stated that she would not leave the place until she received a solution, reported exiled independent journalist Jose Luis Tan Estrada on Facebook.

The mother reports that since the day before at 3:00 p.m., her area has been without electricity, a critical situation for her family, which includes a small child and another with Down syndrome.

“My son with special needs had a crisis due to the darkness. We don’t even have time to charge the lamps. I will do whatever it takes for my children,” she exclaimed.

Rodríguez Rodríguez questioned the lack of empathy and attention from government staff, noting that while she was waiting to be attended to, the officials "were having lunch with electricity," unlike at her home where the food spoils due to a lack of refrigeration.

"I arrived here 45 minutes ago. And what are they doing? Eating. Of course, food with power. What do they care about the people?" she expressed indignantly.

The mother demanded the publication of an official schedule for power outages, so that citizens can plan their daily lives without being at the mercy of unexpected blackouts, which have already lasted more than 10 hours in many areas of the country.

"What they are doing is counter-revolution. They are killing us little by little. That's enough already!" criticized Yosleydis.

The woman, who appeared with her name and face visible, stated that she does not hide and is willing to confront the authorities in defense of her children.

The protest quickly sparked a wave of solidarity on social media, where Cubans both inside and outside the country are sharing the video with the hashtag #NoLaDejemosSola.

This is not the first protest by Cuban mothers, many of whom have stood up on countless occasions but have been silenced and threatened by the regime without receiving responses to their demands.
