The U.S. dollar reached 418 Cuban pesos today in the informal market, marking a new increase in its value for the fifth consecutive day.
This figure is three pesos more than in the previous session. The price increase reflects the growing deterioration of the Cuban peso against the US dollar, amid persistent inflation and a limited supply of foreign currency in official channels.
For its part, the euro rose to 470 Cuban pesos, solidifying its position as the most expensive foreign currency in Cuba. This trend is attributable to both its scarcity and the increased demand in the informal market, where it is widely used for commercial transactions and remittances.
The MLC (Freely Convertible Currency), used in state-run stores, also recorded an increase, in this case of five pesos. It is currently valued at 200 Cuban pesos.
