Intense rains and thunderstorms are hitting the province of Ciego de Ávila this Saturday, where meteorologists and social media users reported heavy downpours starting from noon.
The meteorologist Frank Fernández Castañeda informed at 2:14 p.m. that it is raining heavily in the main city, while the user Andis Rodríguez García reported very strong precipitation in Chambas.

Images shared on social media show flooded streets and a sky covered with dense gray clouds.
In some municipalities, the rains were accompanied by electrical discharges and gusts of wind.
According to meteorologist R. Galardy from the page Ciego de Ávila Información, a band of clouds moved eastward over the central region of the country, with its leading edge reaching the province and generating showers and thunderstorms across almost the entire territory.
So far, no material damage or human impact has been reported, although local authorities are maintaining surveillance for possible water accumulations in low-lying areas.
Meteorologists warn that the rainfall will continue throughout the afternoon and into the early hours of the night, due to the persistence of a wide area of atmospheric instability and the passage of a tropical wave over the Caribbean Sea.
The rainfall is part of the same system that affected Cienfuegos this Friday, where local flooding was recorded and accumulations exceeded 50 millimeters in just a few hours.
Provincial authorities urge the public to remain cautious, avoid crossing currents of water, and report any risky situations to emergency services.
Meteorological organizations will continue to monitor the development of the rains and will issue new advisories if conditions worsen in the coming hours.
