The Bucanero Brewery S.A. made a donation valued at over three million pesos this Friday, aimed at the eastern provinces most affected by the passage of Hurricane Melissa, reported the official broadcaster Radio Bayamo.
The donation, consisting of 5,760 boxes of Perla Negra malt —equivalent to 40 pallets—, will be distributed among the provinces of Las Tunas, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguín, and Guantánamo, as confirmed by Manuel Rodríguez Pérez, director of the Eastern Sales Branch of the company.
"Including 40 pallets of Perla Negra malt (5,760 cases) that will arrive at evacuation centers, hospitals, and nursing homes," the company emphasized in a post on Facebook.
Rodríguez noted that the initiative aims to alleviate some of the hardships faced by thousands of families following the cyclone, which caused extensive damage to infrastructure, housing, and electrical networks.
We join the solidarity effort of many organizations and workers who seek to support the affected, stated the executive, as quoted by the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
For his part, Diosmedis Cruz, general secretary of the factory's Trade Union Bureau, emphasized that Bucanero maintains social support actions throughout the year, especially for children without parental support, cancer patients, and pediatric hospitals in various provinces.
It is a moral commitment to our people and to the communities where we operate, he stated.
The Oriente Branch, honored with the distinction of National Vanguard, claims to have fulfilled its production and sales plans, maintaining favorable levels in workplace safety and organizational discipline.
As part of its expansion strategy in the Caribbean and Central America, the brewery —a leader in the production of malt barrels and beer in Cuba— continues to invest in diversifying its portfolio, with products such as Bucanero Max, Cristal Extra, and the very own Perla Negra, which was part of the donation.
The solidarity initiative takes place amid a deep economic crisis and shortages in Cuba, where the arrival of Hurricane Melissa has worsened the situation for thousands of families who are still waiting for a structural response from the regime regarding the material damage and losses they have suffered.
