During the toughest days of Military Service in Cuba, when many young people feel their dreams are on hold, Kend Guevara clung to one very clear aspiration: to dance and succeed doing what he loved. Amidst exhaustion, extreme conditions, and others' doubts, he repeated a phrase that few took seriously.
“They never believed me when I said in the green: ‘When I get out of this, I’m going to leave the country and I’m going to succeed doing what I love,’” he told himself over and over again.
Today, far from Cuba and with a rising career in Nicaragua, Kend proves that the promise he made was not just a fantasy. Now a dance instructor and Zumba coach, he has carved out a space for himself on stages, at events, and in classes where movement, energy, and discipline blend with his Cuban identity.
"Here I am, proudly raising the flag of my island," he states, aware that each performance and every class also tells a story of effort, sacrifice, and resilience.
Kend not only dances: he teaches, motivates, and transforms. His work focuses on helping others improve their coordination, discover their physical potential, and connect with music through confidence and passion. Additionally, he offers personalized classes online, extending his reach beyond physical borders.
From that young man who dreamed in silence while fulfilling his Military Service to the artist who today lives off what he loves, Kend Guevara's story is a testament to the fact that talent, when combined with determination, can open doors even far from home.
