Note:
This recipe is for using leftovers. That delicious picadillo you have left from last night, or that piece of chicken you saved for Fulanito who never showed up, always find their place in an empanada. The Meat Empanadas are perfect for snacks. And when you put them on the table, they disappear!!! Enjoy them!!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound of wheat flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • lard for frying
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of dry wine
  • 1 cup of minced meat, shredded chicken, or fish
Instructions:

Put ¾ pound of sifted flour onto a marble surface, make a hole in the center, and add the egg yolks, sugar, salt, dry wine, and butter. Mix everything together and gradually add the water, kneading with your hands as little as possible.

Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until the thickness is minimized, cut into rounds, and place a tablespoon of the filling in the center.

Fold them, sealing the edges, and fry them in hot butter. Let them drain on absorbent paper.

The scraps can be utilized by cutting them into narrow strips, making cuts in the center, and frying them in hot fat. They are dusted with powdered sugar and served around the pastries.
