The art historian Yanelys Núñez Leyva saw how her appeal regarding her expulsion from the magazine 'Revolución y Cultura' due to her connection with the Museum of Dissent was aired this Thursday, and now she will have to wait for the decision from the Labor Justice Body (OJL), according to Diario de Cuba.
Núñez Leyva reported that at the hearing, "they did not allow anyone in who was not an employee of the Ministry of Culture; the magazine's staff was present, but my guests had to wait outside."
"The magazine's director, Luisa Campuzano, and the deputy director, José León Díaz, reiterated that being associated with the independent project Museum of Dissent in Cuba contradicted the interests of the institution where she worked, but this is a statement that remains completely ambiguous," she added.
In her defense, she explained that the objectives of the Museum of Dissent in Cuba were not related to her work at the magazine. "They recognized that I was a good worker, and I only received support from the employee Israel Castellanos; the rest remained silent," Leyva lamented.
In the first days of August, the OJL is expected to make its resolution public, although everything indicates that this body will confirm the historian's expulsion.
Núñez Leyva is the curator of the Museum of Dissent in Cuba, an artistic project directed by the artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, which aims to be a space for dialogue online among the various political visions and actors on the Island. The intention of the organizers extends beyond Cuba; they wish to explore the phenomenon of dissent in the United States, Spain, Canada, and other countries.
