The #00Bienal de La Habana has launched a fundraising campaign for those who wish to support the event

The organizers of the #00Bienal de La Habana, who despite political obstacles are determined to hold it from May 5 to 15, have launched a campaign on GoFundMe to raise funds to support this space for art, following the fact that the Cuban government suspended the event that takes place annually in the capital.

"The collected funds will be allocated to the production of artworks, promotion, communication, and merchandising for the entire event. A catalog and a documentary will be an important part of the memory of the #00Bienal, so the funds raised in this campaign will also be used for that," announced the organizers.

The artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and the curator Yanelys Núñez, who have been heavily persecuted by the Cuban police since they took the initiative to independently organize the 2018 Biennial, are hopeful that the event will be made possible with the support of foreigners, Cubans both outside and inside the Island, independent institutions, curators, and artists.

"This event, with the theme 'In Every Studio a Biennial,' becomes the first Cuban initiative to use the digital platform and specific cultural projects to create an inclusive space for dialogue and artistic production."

Donors will receive as a token of appreciation items ranging from the catalog and documentary of the #00Bienal to portraits and works by participating artists in the event.
