Pinero Andy Ibáñez is completing a more than consistent season in Triple-A with the organization of the Texas Rangers. He utility The 25-year-old is averaging an interesting offensive line of .281/.343/.406, with 21 doubles, a triple and 11 home runs.
The Antillean left Cuba in 2014 and a year later signed a 1.6 million contract with the Texas Rangers.
Ibáñez was in Double-A all of 2017 and perhaps did not hit what was expected of him (.265) but this season, the former Cuban youth player and member of the III World Baseball Classic, has proven to be very close to surpassing the Triple-A level in Round Rock Express.
If the Rangers do not promote Ibáñez in this September call where the rosters are expanded to 40, then the Cuban can be chosen in the Rule 5 Draft in December by any other team. He has the disadvantage of not belonging to the Rangers' 40-man roster, meaning that to promote him it would be necessary to assign a player on the roster, which does not seem very likely.
