The renowned Peruvian-American percussionist, producer, and composer Tony Succar has traveled to Havana for the first time on December 11 to record a track with Cuban musicians Haila María Mompié and Issac Delgado, whom he has admired for a long time.

For Succar, who has collaborated with artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar de León, Tito Nieves, India, and Obie Bermúdez, to name just a few, this is a historic moment because "I have spent many years listening to and loving Cuban music... more and more." For the first time, he has the opportunity to create music in the country of salsa, son, and timba, rhythms that "I feel in my heart."

The musician, also known for his tribute album to Michael Jackson, had the opportunity to mingle with other local artists such as Gente de Zona and Alexander Abreu, as well as international figures like Benicio del Toro, who is on the island to present his film Sicario 2 at the Havana Film Festival.

Succar, who traveled to Cuba with renowned salsa percussionist Marc Quiñones, enjoyed the performance by Havana D'Primera at the Casa de la Música in Miramar and Cimafunk at the OLalá bar. The artist is now returning to Miami, where he will perform with his band Mixtura this Friday.
