Not a single tourist facility in Havana was damaged after the devastating tornado this Sunday, as confirmed by the Island's Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero Cruz.

"We have carried out a tour after the meteorological event that occurred in the capital last night. All tourist facilities are operating, as they have not been affected," he wrote on his Twitter profile.

The Government has estimated the fatalities at 3 and the injured at 172, of which 12 were reported serious. However, the number of deaths could increase due to total and partial collapses.

So far the material damage has not been quantified but in the images from this Monday morning you can see streets full of debris, fallen trees, downed poles, overturned vehicles and many other damages due to the collapse of homes.

The most affected areas were the municipalities of Regla, Guanabacoa, San Miguel del Padrón, Diez de Octubre and Habana del Este.
