Washington, April 23 (Reuters) - Advisers to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, They will present him with a new immigration plan in the coming days that addresses issues of border security and reform of the system, Jared Kushner, son-in-law and one of the Republican president's closest collaborators, said Tuesday.

The plan incorporates measures to stop illegal immigration - one of Trump's main campaign promises - and will also include proposals for a merit-based immigration system, a foreign employee program for agriculture and seasonal activities, and actions aimed at improving trade, Kushner said.

Speaking at a Time magazine forum, Kushner said he would present what he described as a "very detailed" plan to Trump at the end of the week or early next week.

"He'll make some changes, probably, and then decide what he wants to do with it," he said.

Trump said he would build a wall on the border with Mexico during his presidential campaign in 2016 and since then he has faced Congress and court appeals seeking to finance the construction of the barrier.

The president has argued that a wall on the long border is needed to prevent illegal immigrants from Central America from entering the United States and has pushed to change laws to make it easier to deport undocumented people.

Kushner has held about 50 meetings with conservative groups over immigration issues, according to a senior administration official.

Additionally, he has been working on the plan with White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett and policy adviser Stephen Miller.
