American Airlines begins new daily route between Miami and Santiago de Cuba

The airline already operates 6 destinations on the Island.

American airline American Airlines Last Friday night, a new route between Miami International Airport and the Antonio Maceo Terminal in Santiago de Cuba was inaugurated, reported Radio Rebelde.

With the recently started service, there are now six destinations to Cuba that the company has, which has operated since 2016 in the airports of Havana, Varadero, Camagüey and Santa Clara, in addition to covering the route from North Carolina to the capital of the Island.

“This is now the sixth destination of American Airlines on the Island, allowing with regular flights a more fluid movement of passengers between the two countries,” declared Emilio Dominico, director of the Antonio Maceo International Airport.

It is expected that trips between Miami and Santiago de Cuba will continue with a daily frequency and use Airbus A319 aircraft.

The first regular American Airlines flight In the eastern province it had a total of 143 passengers on board and was received by Alfredo González, General Director of American Airlines for the Caribbean, Evangelio Venero, Director of the Havanatur branch in the Santiago territory and other officials.

“After three years we have continued to strengthen our presence including the recent launch of our fifth daily flight between the cities of Miami and Havana and in July we will be inaugurating a sixth frequency between these two cities,” said Ramón Jiménez, Operations Manager of the American Airlines in Cuba.
