Two dead and seven wounded, including a police officer, are the main result of a shooting that occurred this Saturday morning at CityPlace Doral, a popular shopping center in the city located in Miami-Dade County.
The incident began due to an argument between customers on the patio of the Martini Bar around 3:30 am. A security guard intervened and one of the participants in the dispute pulled out a gun, shot and killed him inside the same establishment.
Other members of the security team confronted the subject and shot him. As a result, the suspect also died, while one of the police officers was injured in the leg.
This agent, who has been in the Department for four years, applied his tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was already released from Jackson Memorial Hospital after being treated.
In the shooting, six other people who were at the scene were hit by bullets: two women and four men, who were transported to the hospital. Two of them are in critical condition.
Doral Police Chief Edwin López called the officers who confronted the shooter "heroes" and praised the training of law enforcement agencies.
For her part, Doral Mayor Christi Fraga shared a statement on Twitter about the incident, saying she was praying for the victims and their families.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and individuals affected by this terrible incident. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the police officers who quickly responded to the call," he said.
The owners of the Martini Bar issued a statement about the terrible event.
"Our hearts are broken by the tragedy that unfolded at our venue early this morning that claimed the life of a dedicated security guard and injured several others. Our staff, our patrons, and this community are like family to us, and "We are completely shocked by this senseless act of violence," they said.
"We are working diligently to ensure that everyone affected by this feels supported in every way possible. We are conducting our own internal investigation, as well as cooperating fully with all authorities. This trauma will be felt deeply by all of us for a long time. to come, and we are here for our community today and always," they concluded.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
