Miami airport prepares for expensive expansion

Project expenses are estimated between 4 and 5 billion dollars.

HeMiami International Airport It would be preparing for an expensive expansion that would take between 5 and 15 years to complete, and whose expenses are estimated between 4 and 5 billion dollars.

The extensive renovation involves the construction of two new hotels that will connect to the MIA Mover train system, as well as the flight terminals.

As indicatedThe Next Miami ―which has released official documents of the remodeling projects― the plans would include, among other changes, a total rehabilitation of the Central Terminal, whose ceilings will be raised to achieve better lighting.

Check-in areas will also be expanded, while the security checkpoint will be larger and more centralized, serving both Concourse E and F. Concourse G is scheduled to be closed.

The North Terminal will accommodate more aircraft and the aircraft parking area between gates D14 and D37 will be upgraded to accommodate wider aircraft such as the 777-300.

Gate D60 of that same terminal, currently operated byAmerican Eagle, will be remodeled to accommodate larger regional jets as well as narrow-body aircraft, and will also feature spacious lounges with new concession offerings.

In the South Terminal, more space is planned to add three large aircraft doors.

In general, the expectations spread by the aforementioned media indicate that the expansion of Miami International Airport will lay the foundations for an era of growth, which will improve the traveler experience from every point of view.

Inaugurated in 1928 byPan American Airways Corporation As its base of operations, Miami Airport grew in importance in the mid-20th century, due in large part to Miami's growing influence as a tourist destination and the massive presence of Latin American immigrants.
