
Pedro Luis Padrón, like so many other Cuban migrants, has been in theMexican locality of Ciudad Juárez, state of Chihuahua, waiting for his turn to request political asylum in the United States.
During this period he has had to guarantee his lodging and food and, in the absence of a work permit, he has been forced to opt for informal employment in the downtown area.
As Padrón explained to the newspaperThe MexicanTwo weeks ago he began working selling fruits and vegetables in a store located on Santos Degollado Street between José María Morelos and Francisco Javier Mina, where he is paid up to 300 Mexican pesos daily.
The work, with regulated hours from 6 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, has allowed himpay for your lodging - 110 pesos per night - at the Hotel Río.
However, despite the difficulties encountered, the Cuban assures thatThe “people of Juárez have behaved wonderfully” and has not described his experience as negative.
Padrón has registration number 13,625 to request political asylum in the United States and hopes that in less than two months, he will be permanently in North American territory.
The 15 thousandth migrant, with Cuban nationality and identified by authorities as Reinier Rosales Martín, arrived at the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Ciudad Juárez on May 22.
While this is happening, the Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador continues to send Cubans back for having an "irregular immigration status", as part of an agreement with the Díaz-Canel administration.
This Monday anew group of 68 citizens from the Island were deported from Chiapas.
