Yoanis Quiala and Lorenzo Quintana shine in the opening of the Mexican Pacific League

The always exciting winter baseball season started in the Pacific of Mexico on the night of Friday the 11th and the Cuban navy made itself felt from the beginning.

Holguín right-hander Yoanis Quiala showed that he is coming big and managed a six-inning start, allowing only one run and striking out five rivals. The Cañeros de los Mochis won 8-1 against the Algodoneros del Guasave, who return to the Mexican Pacific League.

Pinar del Río Lorenzo Quintana, a luxury reinforcement, acted as catcher and 4th hitter in the Cañeros lineup, and went 2 for 5, with two RBIs and his first home run in LMP. In addition, Quintana hit the first HR of the campaign on the night in Mexico.

The multi-tool Josuan Hernández could not hit in four at-bats, but drove in a run in the victory of the greens.
