Left-handed pitcher Yorlenis Noa was released by the Oakland Athletics this morning while he was in Minor League spring camp, according to confirmations to CiberCuba.
Noa, 23 years old, had signed a contract with the A's in 2018 for a bonus of $10,000.
In his first season in professional baseball he pitched 1.04 in the Dominican Summer League, with 48 strikeouts in 52 innings and an opponent average of .166.
However, things did not turn out the same for the one from Guantánamo in 2019 after reaching short Class-A in the United States. Despite posting a record of 1-6, 5.36 in the Vermont Lake Monsters, Oakland branch, the left-hander left an impression by posting 40 strikeouts in 47 innings and allowing an opponent average of .247.
It is not the end of Noa's career. A 23-year-old pitcher who until recently was throwing 93 miles and projects even more on his fastball. He will now pursue opportunities in other organizations.
This shows that the horizon of opportunities in the Minor Leagues is very well defined. The margin of error is quite short for those who sign for low bonuses, it is a marked trend.
