A video just over two minutes long, summarizing the "dances" of Donald Trump following the beat of the song "YMCA" by Village People, is the president's latest call to "vote, vote, vote."
This is evidenced by a post pinned this Tuesday at the top of his Twitter account, which has already garnered over 384,000 likes, 90,000 retweets, and 7.3 million views.
The president has been using the popular disco song from the late 1970s to conclude several of his campaign events in recent months, incorporating the choreography that made YMCA famous, which basically consists of arm and hip movements.
In June, Victor Willis, the only original member of the group Village People, asked Trump to stop using their songs at rallies. Willis even stated that the president has never engaged in the actual actions that accompany the song.
“Donald Trump does what Donald Trump does”, he told Willis in a recent interview with the BBC when asked about Trump's actions. “I’ve never seen him raise his hands and go to the YMCA. He’s turned it into MAGA or something.”
“I like that fans of all kinds, Democrats or Republicans, they all enjoy 'YMCA,'” Willis added. “That’s something I really appreciate. [But] as for supporting Trump, I do not support Trump, I have never supported him, nor Village People. That’s why we’ve asked him to stop playing our music at his rallies. But regarding copyright law in the United States, it falls under a general license, so he can play our music whenever he wants,” he said.
