The Cuban mountaineer Yandy Nunez He is on his way to the highest peak in the world, which he plans to reach after May 20, according to statements by his wife Halldóra Bjarkadóttir.

In conversation with the icelandic press, Halldóra shared details of Núñez's expedition about whom there has not been much news recently, which has worried his followers. The mountaineer is fine, he had a cold due to the low temperatures in camp 1, but this has not prevented him follow path:

“He made the mistake of sending the sleeping bag directly to the base camp, so he was cold all night in these teahouses and caught a bit of a cold and had a sore throat. But he quickly took it off when he got to base camp," Halldóra said.

According to Yandy's wife, of the expedition group of which the Cuban is a part, initially of seven mountaineers, only four remain. The other three abandoned the climb because it was too difficult for them.

"Based on the current weather forecast, the policy is to try to peak after May 20 next year. "Bad weather is expected from May 13 to 20."

April 15 Yandy announced that he had arrived at Base Camp Everest and five days later he was already in Camp 1. The expedition includes acclimatization climbs in which the Cuban has been able to summit different elevations such as Chukhung Ri (5,550 meters), Island Peak (5,900), Lobuche Peak (6120m), among others.

Yandy has said that he will carry a message of freedom to the summit and place the Cuban flag at the top of Mount Everest.
