The Cuban rapper Bian Oscar Rodríguez Gala, popularly known as The B and former member of The Villagers, proposed this Monday the design of a flag in honor to Sunday, July 11, when thousands of Cubans took to the streets to protest against the government of Miguel Díaz-Canel.

“I came up with this simple design for a flag, with colors and meaning completely opposite to the terrorist flag of July 26,” he explained on social networks about his proposal, which includes the colors blue, white and black.

“Blue and White Colors, the C for Cuba and the date 11-7 in black as a sign of mourning for the victims of the dictatorship. Symbolizing HOPE, UNITY, FREEDOM, LOVE and PRIDE of being Cubans. A reminder of the day that the purest and most genuine act of patriotism in the history of our country occurred. Make it yours!” said the artist.

According to El B, July now has a different meaning for Cubans, marking distance from the events of July 26, 1953, led by the late dictator Fidel Castro against the government of then-president Fulgencio Batista.

“We no longer celebrate a date in which we were forced to march against our will showing 'support' for an egomaniacal tyrant and his dictatorship. Now we celebrate the day when the people took to the streets demanding FREEDOM!!! United only by the feeling of their heart, without a 'leader,'” the artist concluded.

The day before, El B had made a direct transmission where he confessed his joy over the recent events that shook the island. “Today history is truly being made in Cuba, today is a historic day,” he stated.

The massive protests on Sunday in several cities in the country, in the midst of the stark shortages and the crisis aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic, have been considered historic. “(…) I don't think we've seen a protest like this in a long, long time, if, frankly, ever," the president of the United States, Joe Biden, said this Monday.

Several international celebrities have expressed their support for the Cuban people in the demonstrations, including the actor Andy García, the singers Camila Cabello and Karol G, as well as Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin, among others.

Likewise, the Cuban rapper Aldo Rodríguez Baquero, popularly known as Aldo El Aldeano, He shared his latest song on his social networks on Sunday, July 11., which he posted on Instagram with the following title: "Freedom and love for my people."
