The musician is an activist for human rights in Cuba and for the release of political prisoners, among whom is his friend, the rapperMaykel Osorbo.

The Funky emigrated to the United States two years ago, under strong repression by the Havana regime. He left the island with the aim of attending the 2021 Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, where"Homeland and Life" It emerged as the winning song.
