The renowned Cuban radio host in Miami, Adrián Mesa, suffered a stroke and, according to close sources, will be disconnected this Wednesday from the life support measures that keep him in a persistent vegetative state.

"Last minute! A classic Miami voice goes out! Adrián Mesa suffered a stroke and will be disconnected tomorrow... He was a colleague of Álvarez Guedes and mine from the golden era of Radio in Spanish Broadcasting System Clásica 92 FM RIP. Rest well Cuban and your Mano a Mano,” shared the Argentine driver Javier Ceriani on his Instagram profile.

The announcer, one of the most recognized voices inZeta 92.3 FM, was the founder of the program “Here is Álvarez Guedes”, of which he was the musical director for 14 years, becoming its right arm.

Together with Guedes, Mesa occupied first place on local radio in the time slot from 10 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, according to the report.web ofZeta 92.3 FM. His Sunday programs “Concierto de Boleros” and “Los Grandes de Nocturno” (known as “El Mano a Mano”), reached very high audience levels and remained in first place on Miami radio for years.

On television, Mesa signed on as host of the program “Entre Fichas” for almost two years, when theMegaTV (Channel 22). In addition, the announcer is also remembered for being the voice and image of the Med Care and Med Plan medical centers. In his resume, he has starred in important advertising campaigns with excellent results and has served as master of ceremony in countless concerts by great international artists.

His death has shocked many of them and professional colleagues who sent messages of condolences through their social networks. The media reflects the sad news saying that radio in Miami is in mourning with Mesa's departure.

"Adrián, dear brother, I can't believe you're gone. How sad, my God!" exclaimed singer Amaury Pérez on his Facebook page, sharing a photo of the announcer with singer Alfredito Rodríguez and other colleagues.

In January 2017, the announcer received the keys to the City of Miami from its then mayor, Tomás Regalado. In his words of gratitude, Mesa expressed that he felt very honored by the recognition of a city in which he had been living, studying and working for 36 years.

“I feel very honored to receive the key to the city where I have resided for 36 years. But what excites me most is receiving it from the hands of our mayor and great friend Tomás Regalado, with whom I worked for many years at Radio Mambí and CMQ Radio," he said at that time, according toelvoceronews.com.

Adrián arrived with his sister to the United States through the Mariel Exodus in 1980. He was granted asylum in the Peruvian Embassy. After working in various jobs, he studied journalism at Miami Dade College and communications at the Miami Lakes Educational Center; guided by professionals like Alexis Farías and Mike Capote. It begins at “FM 92” owned by Mr. Pablo Raúl Alarcón, advised by his colleagues Betty Pino and Javier Romero.
