Silver medalist in the last Olympic Games,Cuban long jumper Juan Miguel Echevarría will return to training next month after an injury at the summer event that kept him out for four months.
This was announced by the official site Jit, which cited statements by trainer Daniel Osorio regarding the recovery of the 23-year-old kangaroo.
"Once the recovery was confirmed, they allowed us to return to training," said Osorio, who added that "all indications and treatments were followed and the combined therapies were complied with, in which the work of his physiotherapist was essential."
The Camagüey starHe injured the femoral biceps of his right leg when he had barely completed three attempts in the Tokyo jumping tank, in a final where his compatriot Maikel Massó - later awarded bronze - was also injured, in his case after the second jump.
According to the coach, "the first evaluation was done in the Japanese capital itself with the Cuban doctors who were part of the Olympic delegation. Then, on German soil, the initial diagnosis was ratified and a treatment was given that was carried out in Cuba, always with the island's specialists as part of the follow-up".
At the moment, Echevarría is already doing light physical work, and in the first months of 2022 the physical loads will increase.
Experts consider him a candidate to dominate the specialty in the coming campaigns, taking into account his youth and conditions. Until today, his personal outdoor record is 8.68 meters, although with a favorable wind he reached 8.92.
