Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux reunites his two children in the United States

The Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux This Thursday he celebrated the joy of having their two children for the first time together, in the United States, after a long wait of 12 years.

The boxer, who lives with his new wife and son, finally managed to bring his first-born son, Guillermo Rigondeaux Colina, to the United States, the result of a previous relationship and who remained in Cuba. as the site clarifies Swing Completo.

Rigondeaux has lived in the United States since 2009, after an accidental defection from the Cuban delegation during the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007.

He is valued as one of the best amateur boxers in history. His record includes two Olympic titles in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, and two amateur world championships, in Belfast 2001 and Mianyang 2005.

In 2009, he debuted in professional boxing, where he has a record of 20-3, with a total of 13 KOs.

The most notable victory of his professional career occurred in 2013, when he defeated Filipino Nonito Donaire by decision of the judges.

He managed to win the bantamweight category of the World Boxing Association (WBA), at 39 years old, in 2020. In this way, he became a two-division champion and the oldest boxer to win a belt at 118 pounds.

At 41 years old, and after two recent defeats against lesser fighters, Rigondeaux's career is in full decline.

In early March of this year, he suffered severe burns on a domestic accident, when a pot exploded in his face.

Rigondeaux was hospitalized with damage to his face and vision, but your doctors wait that he can fully recover the vision in both eyes and return to training in June.
