On that occasion, some users related the diesel shortage to the proximity of 11J and considered that the government had allocated, on those dates, all the fuel to thermoelectric plants, to try to reduce blackouts, anticipating any expression of popular discontent.

A week earlier, an independent journalist denouncedthe odyssey that drivers have to go through in Pinar del Ríoto be able to buy fuel for their cars.

Roberto Blanco Gil shared a photograph on his Facebook wall showing an extensive line of cars at a gas station waiting for their turn to put something in the tank.

“Pinar del Río, Cuba. Tireless queues for means of transport of all types to purchase fuel. The odyssey continues in the light of day. An inefficient government like the one that prevails in Cuba today is not capable of making up for the shortcomings that the people have. This is one of them,” Blanco Gil pointed out next to the image.
