Juantorena's son is a Cuban resident in Mexico. His message has received hundreds of interactions and comments from people who wish him aspeedy recovery to the famous Cuban athlete.

This week Cubans have been very attentive to Juantorena's health situation. The former athlete has been admitted to the hospital since last Friday.Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) due to dengue serotype three, associated with post-Covid-19 syndrome. This Monday they reported him in critical condition.

This outstanding Cuban runner accomplished an unprecedented sporting feat in 1976, at the Montreal Olympic Games. He was proclaimed champion in the 400 and 800 meters.

Many Cubans still remember that sports narrative of his career. The Cuban ran with such energy that the commentator said: "Here comes Juantorena, and he comes with his heart...". This story gave rise to a popular phrase in Cuba that is used when someone arrives at a place exhausted: "I come like Juantorena."
