Thefaithful and devoted to Our Lady of Charity celebrate the 61st anniversary fromarrival of the image of the Patroness from Cuba to Miami, where she was transferred "hidden in a suitcase", protected by Cubans who were escaping communism.
“We have chosen as this year's central theme 'There is no country without charity', a message that exhorts us to put God at the center of the new Cuban homeland that we all dream of, through the help and intercession of the Virgin of Charity, the Patroness, Queen and Mother of Cuba," announced the website of theHermitage of Charity.
The closing of the day will be nextSeptember 8th, with the celebration of asolemn mass in honor of the Patroness of Cuba, in the Hermitage located in Coconut Grove, in Miami-Dade.
The mass will be presided over by the Archbishop of Miami, Thomas Wenski. Previously, there will be a parade of the Apostolic Movements of the Archdiocese of Miami and the entrance procession of the image of the Virgin of Charity.
According to the site, the allegorical poster of theFeast of Our Lady of Charity 2022 “places the blessed image of the Virgin in the center of the Cuban flag, to highlight her prominence in our national project.”
As part of the celebrations for the Patroness of Cuba, an artistic vigil is planned for the night of September 7 with the participation of Coral Cubana, Amaury Gutiérrez, Ramón Fabián Veloz, Latin Divos, Roberto Torres, Tania Martí and Maylú Hernandez, in the grounds of the Hermitage.
The program of celebrations for the Virgin of Charity began on August 30 and will close with the solemn mass next Thursday.
The day includes the reading of a daily Novena to reflect on some of the virtues of the Virgin Mary and the liturgy has been animated by different parishes of the Archdiocese of Miami.
As part of the Feast of Our Lady of Charity 2022, theprocession of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre through the streets of Miami, to which dozens of Cubans joined.
The tour departed at 10 a.m. from the Ermita de la Caridad, and included the main avenues of Miami-Dade County. Cubans gathered at the meeting points and greeted the passing of the Patroness of Cuba by waving white handkerchiefs.
Every September 8, Cubans from inside and outside the island celebratethe day of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, venerated by faithful of the Catholic Church and Cubans identified with the image of mercy, a symbol of unity and harmony par excellence in the history of the country.
