The grazing of rustic chickens is the option with which they intend to remedy the lack of feed in the Yateras municipality, in Guantánamo, in the midst of an acute shortage of eggs in Cuba.

Generally, sorghum, mulberry, sunflower, guava, among others, are planted as a guarantee for feeding the birds.

InHolguin, faced with the impossibility of producing chicken eggs, the industry had to resort to quail breeding to mitigate the shortage of eggs and their high prices in the domestic market.

The so-called Quail Program seeks to "produce proteins as quickly as possible" and they have already been soldmillions of eggs directly to the population.

The egg has become a highly coveted product by the people, while the official press blames the shortage on resellers and not on the Cuban food industry, which is unable to satisfy demand.

This protein is becoming increasingly scarce in Cuba, due to the inability of the national industry to produce feed to feed the chickens, while the government also does not have the money to import the food or its raw materials.
