Themodel andinfluencer china Abby Choi, reported missing since last Wednesday, was allegedlymurdered and dismembered by her ex-partner and her in-laws, with whom the victim would have had financial problems.
The dismembered body of the 28-year-old girl was found in a house in a town in Hong Kong. The ex-husband, Alex Kwong, 28, was arrested for the femicide on Saturday when he was trying to leave the city by boat, according to an agency note.Sing Tao News Corporation.
The parents, Kau and Jenny Li, and Anthony, the alleged murderer's older brother, were arrested a day earlier, the police report said. They were denied bail by the Kowloon City Magistrate's Court.
Choi's remains were found in a refrigerator in a house in the village of Lung Mei, about 27 km from Kowloon, where she was last seen last week.
After searching for evidence, it is believed thatthe victim was dismembered, some parts of the body were cooked and discarded in batches, and the remaining ones, including the head, were stored in the refrigerator in the basement of the house.
"We believe the victim and her ex-husband's family had many financial disputes involving large sums," Police Superintendent Alan Chung said. "Someone was dissatisfied with the way she handled her assets, which became a motive to kill."
At the scene, a meat slicer, an electric saw and clothing allegedly related to the case were seized, authorities reported in a statement.
According to the news agency, a large number of detectives from the West Kowloon Regional Crime Squad attended the scene to investigate and made arrests at the scene.
The model's disappearance was reported after not showing up to pick up her daughter from school. She and Kwong had two children.
