The ex-president Donald Trump has positioned itself as the favorite among Republican women for the elections in 2024, surpassing the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, and the governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley.

A new survey published by Fox News This Saturday it showed that 40% of Republican voters would support Trump in next year's presidential elections in the United States, almost double what they received DeSantis, who received 23% of the vote, while Haley followed behind with 9% and former Vice President Mike Pence reached only 8%.

When Republican women were asked who their second choice would be, DeSantis easily came out on top with 25% support, while Trump and Pence tied at 13% and Haley got 9%.

Haley and Trump are the only candidates who have officially entered the race by the White House.

However, although DeSantis has not yet officially announced his candidacy, he is expected to do so and be Trump's Republican Party opponent for the 2024 elections.

When the poll asked who Republicans would support among the only two declared candidates, Trump received an overwhelming 63% to Haley's 27%.

Only 1% of respondents said they would not vote, while 7% said they would support someone else and 3% did not know.

Republican women mostly agreed when asked what they thought of President Joe Biden, with 91% giving him a thumbs down for his performance and only 8% approving.

The polls also showed that 46% saw the economy as the main problem facing the country, and a distant 23% said immigration.

A survey of YouGov conducted last November revealed that 42% of respondents would prefer to have DeSantis as the GOP nominee for 2024. Only 35% said they preferred Trump.

DeSantis has not spoken firmly about a possible candidacy in the 2024 elections, something that Trump has taken the opportunity to attack him after being considered a strong candidate, if he were to run for office.

The former president said DeSantis was “playing” by not announcing his presidential ambitions for 2024.

With the derogatory nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious,” the former president proceeded to illustrate how much it had helped him reach the position he currently occupies, after being re-elected governor of Florida.

However, DeSantis has not responded to Trump's attack and has received praise from conservative circles that previously supported the former White House occupant, including newspapers Wall Street Journal and New York Post and the chain Fox News.
