A huge sign with the legend “Down with the dictatorship”appeared painted this Monday on the façade of theFaculty of Physics of the University of Havana.

The sign, which covered the entrance to that university, was made by the movement "El Nuevo Directorio" (END), who, as they declared in a statement, took action regarding the commemoration, this March 20, " of the first general strike against [Gerardo] Machado, and in honor of José Antonio Echeverría in his Faculty of Architecture at the University of Havana".

"We take responsibility for clandestine actions early today in front of the former José Antonio Echeverría Faculty of Architecture, at the University of Havana, and each action we undertake will be published on our corresponding social networks to prevent actions that we did not commit or terrorist acts from being attributed to us," they stated in their document.

The END group asked that the phrase stamped on the faculty serve as a reminder to Cubans that "an entire people cannot suffer from the ideology of a single man, a man who is already dead, but who must die in all of us."

As in every protest act where phrases are written on walls, the Cuban police immediately painted over the poster so that passersby and students could not see it.

The Cuban regime usually carries out acts of "revolutionary reaffirmation" in each similar action and even police experts and dogs come to investigate the perpetrators of the act.

Just a few days ago, the registration“Down with the dictatorship. “Murderous Castros” It appeared painted on the intersection of Crespo and Trocadero streets in Old Havana.

The proliferation in Cuba of posters against the regime and the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel became frequent in the middle of last year amid the protests against the blackouts and government management that took place throughout the island.

On the highway that connects the town of El Cristo, in Santiago de Cuba, with municipalities such as Songo-La Maya and Segundo Frente, they scratched the phrase“Díaz-Canel singao”.

Subsequently, the police launched a strong operation to find the author of asimilar poster that appeared in Cienfuegos.
