Several people are scammed with false rent in the Cuban neighborhood of Miami

There are at least four scam victims in this case in Miami and the identity of the thief is not yet known.

Several people were scammed when they tried to rent an apartment in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, motivated by a suggestive rental price of $1,200 per month.

"He told me 1,200 pesos, that I had to make an appointment and to make the appointment I had to deposit 100 dollars," he toldTelemundo51 one of the victims of the robbery,Rafael Flores.

Authorities have not yet publicly identified the perpetrator.scam. The individual posed as the owner of the apartment and demanded from those interested in renting, adeposit of 100 dollars prior to the visit of the property, although he managed to steal close to $600 from Rafael Flores.

The thief copied the information of an apartment that was being advertised for rent on social networks. He changed the contact information and managed to deceive at least four people. When the victims arrived at the place they would rent, they realized that the owner was someone else.

The real owner of the apartment is calledLaura Bustamante. He explained that his intention was to rent the apartment for more than $2,000.

"I was renting a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. I put it onFacebook Market Place and on other websites but Ithey copied the ad. I was renting it for $2,300," Laura said.

The woman never imagined that she could be involved in such a situation. So far there are four victims who sent an advance deposit to the alleged scammer.

Rafael Flores said that in total he sent $580 to the person who allegedly duplicated the advertisement on social networks. "He told me: 'We are going to do something, we are going to advance the contract process.' And I deposited money through zelle," said the affected person.

The Federal Trade Commission in the United States alerts users that this type of fraud is increasingly common and invited people to always report if they are scammed.

Last week anotherscam case in Miami. A group of five employees of a dental management company were accused of defrauding insurance out of more than a million dollars. They did everything throughHialeah and Little Havana dental clinics.

The accused are Mercedes Linares, Christi Olson, Leonardo Ramos, Leonel Ravelo, and Ryon Vázquez. They were arrested on charges including filing false insurance claims, organized scheme to defraud and criminal use of personal information.
