The Cuban comedianRigoberto Ferrera announced that the function he had planned for this weekend, at theCafé Teatro "Bertold Brecht", in Havana was suspended because the provincial government left the premises without electricity.
"The government of Havana took the transformer and left us without electricity," the artist wrote on his Facebook and Instagram social networks.
In another publication, Ferrera said that the argument that the authorities used to leave the theater without electricity service was that a community needs that transformer.
"Does culture matter to the Havana government? I think the answer is obvious. Will we at some point have an iota of respect from the 'competent' authorities? I think the answer is still the one we all know. Is humor important for national culture or something uncomfortable for the authorities? With each passing day they destroy with total impunity the passion and desire of an entire generation of artists," he said.
Likewise, he thanked the public who showed their willingness to attend the show, where he would also perform.Osvaldo Doimeadiós
"I can only thank you for your loyalty, a loyalty earned through respect and sacrifice," he said.
Finally, he assured that he will continue giving performances "even if it is with a candle in a cave."
CyberCubaHe wrote to the provincial government of Havana and the theater management to find out their opinion on the subject, but so far they have not responded to the messages sent.
After Ferrera's publication, several Cubans in general joined in criticizing the authorities who left the cultural venue without electricity and affected the weekend programming.
"Leaving without electricity not only such necessary artists as comedians and actors, but also a whole generation of musicians with super valuable proposals and who only have the Bertolt as their space. That is very sad!" wrote the musician Jotabarrioz.
"Culture is just an empty word in the speeches of dysfunctional people who, day after day, for decades, all they have done is destroy it. What can you expect from a minister who has only demonstrated a certain ability to snatch cell phones and censor. The only way out will continue to be the same as always: becoming independent, even if the cost is performing with a candle," said researcher, writer, musical curator and composer René Espí Valero.
"Calm down, up Rigo. It will be done and for the better, I'm sure. They should perhaps think about taking it to Nave Oficio de Isla, with a schedule adjustment. It would be spectacular," suggested photographer Susan Leal.
