In the comments to this publication, several users described that intersection as “the corner of death” due to the frequency of accidents that occur.

“The corner of death. “The day before there was one of a white car and a motorcycle on that same corner,” said an Internet user.

This Tuesday,A fatal traffic accident occurred this Tuesday on Trocha Street, in the vicinity of the 12-story building in the main municipality of Santiago de Cuba, left at least one dead, according to reports on social networks.

The accident apparently involved two motorcycles and a truck, although in the images released so far only the motorcycles are visible.

The numbers of road accidents continue to be dramatic in Cuba.

Between January and May 2023, 3,620 traffic accidents occurred in Cuba that claimed the lives of 290 people and left 2,807 injured, according to official figures.

People between the ages of 21 and 35 represented 22% of those affected in the accidents, while the ages of the majority of the fatal victims ranged between 46 and 55 years.

According to the most recent statistics, in Cuba six out of every ten accidents leave victims, mainly due to vehicle collisions. In the case of pedestrian collisions, one person dies for every five.

The time of highest incidence of accidents is between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and 70% of accidents in the country occur in urban areas.
