Relive the video for "Quimbara" with Celia Cruz and Marc Anthony: A gem of Latin music

The collaboration between Celia Cruz and Marc Anthony in "Químbara" becomes a Latin anthem that unites cultures and hearts.

Latin music has seen countless iconic collaborations, but few as memorable as the performance of "Quimbara" by the one and only Celia Cruz and the talented Marc Anthony. This song, which has become an anthem of Latin music worldwide, resonates strongly every time its catchy chorus "Quimbara, cumbara cumba quimbambá" is heard.

"Quimbara" is not simply a meaningless word, but a brilliant attempt to verbalize the sound of drums. On stage, the powerful voices of Marc Anthony and Celia Cruz, affectionately known as the Queen of Salsa, merge to deliver a performance that radiates energy and evokes an invitation to celebration.

However, behind this iconic song there is a fascinating story. Johnny Pacheco, one of the greats of Latin music, told in an interview how he came across the song. During a visit to Puerto Rico, a young man named Junior Cepeda approached him with the proposal of listening to a song he had composed. Even though Pacheco initially forgot about the young man's proposal, he eventually heard Cepeda sing the catchy chorus of "Químbara" and was instantly impressed.

Junior Cepeda, only 17 years old at the time, proved to be a prodigious talent. Despite his short life, he left an indelible mark on Latin music. Pacheco recorded 10 Cepeda songs and they collaborated closely until Junior's tragic murder in New York at the young age of 22.

The combination of the story behind "Químbara" and the masterful interpretation of Celia Cruz and Marc Anthony make this song a timeless gem in the Latin musical repertoire. It is a reminder of the power of music to unite cultures, generations and hearts.
