"Today they performed the operation and along with it the cesarean section on the pregnant woman for whom I asked for blood donation (O+)... here I leave these photos to all the people who cared about her," the Cuban influencer Isol wrote on Facebook G, who took the opportunity to thank those who donated and the staff of the William Soler Hospital.

In the comments section of the publication, dozens of Cubans were happy about the good news and wished the mother and her baby a speedy recovery.

It was last week that the case of Llorca Aguilera was announced, who at that time was admitted to the National Hospital for prenatal care.diagnosed with "placental accreta" and "struggling between life and death."

After the public request for donations, shortly after it was announced that the hospital itself would provide the blood.

The blood shortage in Cuba has become one of many problems on the island. In recent months, more and more citizens are turning to social networks to find whocan save their lives or those of their family members with voluntary donations.

Data from the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) show that between 1990 and 2019 the number of blood donors in Cuba decreased significantly, from approximately 389 thousand to 209 thousand per year.

Anguished by the urgency, some Cubans in need of blood for a loved one do not hesitate to offer money in exchange for a donation.
