Recovered from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in 2022, Cuban pitcher Darién Núñez will play with the Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League.
The information was released by Beisbol FR, which added that the 30-year-old left-hander will join the team on November 1, once the season in the MLB system has concluded.
Núñez currently plays at the AAA level of the San Francisco Giants organization, where averages 3.09 in ten starts, almost all as a reliever.
According to the same source, he has returned to the speed of 93-95 mph that he exhibited in 2021, when debuted in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers who, after his elbow injury, they decided to release him.
This will be the Las Tunas's second experience in Dominican baseball, where he already played for the Estrellas Orientales in 2021-2022.
Nunez left Cuba in 2015 after having joined the U-18 national team and the 2013 World Classic team.
In the next Lidom they were already the presence of Cubans also confirmed Rangel Ravelo, César Prieto, Ariel Miranda and Yunesky Maya, all of them with the Águilas Cibaeñas.
