Gun ownership in the United States is an issue that generates controversy among politicians and citizens. Beyond the massacres carried out by criminals, many other people are victims of accidents with firearms.

This was the case of the 19-year-old Cuban girl who, at the end of April 2022died from an accidental gunshot wound to the abdomen recently arrived in the United States and was identified asJennifer Castro Santana, a native of the province of Cienfuegos.

Or that of the woman whoAccidentally discharged a firearm and killed a teenager in June of that inside a house in Pembroke Pines, in south Florida.

The woman was handling the gun when it went off and mortally wounded Aquiles López, a 15-year-old boy whom residents of the Coconut Reef community identified as her stepson.

Or that of the boy who in mid-December 2019he accidentally shot his mother inside a van that was parked in Fort Lauderdale, outside a Krispy Kreme store. The woman had to be rushed to Broward General Hospital.
