Cuban wrestler Milaymis Marín Potrillé wins her first Pan American gold

The 22-year-old is qualified for the next Olympic games.

The Cuban Milaymis Marín Potrillé won her first Pan American gold in freestyle wrestling, by defeating the Colombian Tatiana Reitería in the 76 kilograms at the Olympic Training Center in Santiago, Chile.

The 22-year-old girl had acontested fight where Reitería put up strong resistance in the final stages.

Milaymis won 5-4 at the close of the day on Friday, thus winning her first gold in the Pan American Games.

The Cuban was the first world champion in her discipline, and wonair at the Youth Olympic Games.

"I am more than happy, because I achieved that dream title in my first Pan American Games. In addition, I am already qualified for Paris 2024. Thank you, Cuba," she stressed in statements to the Cuban official press.

On Friday Cuba closed the medal table with 23 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze. This Saturday he had possibilities in the fight, where so far he has won four gold medals.
