85-year-old woman is missing in Havana

The old womanNila Mercedes Hernandez Lopez, 85 years old, has been missing since this Wednesday, when he was absent from his home in Vedado, Havana.

The independent feminist platform Yo SíTeCreo in Cuba (YSTCC) launched aalert on social networks for the disappearance of the woman, that “alreadyhas signs of dementia, although this is the first time he has been lost from his home," according to thepublication.

Nila Mercedes was wearing a yellow t-shirt and a brown lycra, and was not carrying a cell phone or documents, when she was last seen on November 22, in her home in the Girón building, located on Malecón between E and F, the note states.

The family filed the corresponding complaint at the police unit located on Zapata and C, in Vedado.

YSTCC urges people with any information tocontact his son Alexander, at phone number 52433477, and/or to the authorities.

Given the lack of official state channels that make visible thedisappearances of people in Cuba, their families, relatives and civil society organizations resort to social networks to make the cases public and gather information that allows them to find their whereabouts.

The elderly Mirta Rivero Mesa has been reported missing for more than a month and a half, who left her home in the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood, in the Habana del Este municipality, and her family has not heard from her again.

In Maisí, Guantánamo, there isAbsent from his home for almost a month Mercedo Ordúñez Lobaina, 80 years old and with senile dementia. His relatives continue searching for him, helped by social networks.

In addition,The family of José Ángel Reytor Arias, 66, has not given up looking for him since September 11, when he disappeared in Manzanillo, Granma.
