A three-year-old girl died after being shot Saturday morning at a Tamarac hotel, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred shortly after 8:15 a.m. at an Extended Stay America, located near the 3000 block of West Commercial Boulevard, the outlet reportedLocal 10.
The minor was mortally wounded, but it is unknown if she died from a stray bullet in a shootout or if she was shot directly.
Police found her with a gunshot wound and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
According to BSO Public Information Officer Claudinne Caro, the girl was accompanied by a woman; however, the relationship between this woman and the victim is unknown at this time.
According to authorities, BSO agents and the Tamarac fire rescue team responded to a report of a shooting and upon arriving found the little girl already deceased, reported.
Detectives from the BSO Homicide Unit and a forensic team were investigating the area and the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Detectives have not yet identified any possible suspects at this time and have asked the community for help in catching the culprits.
