Susana Pérez turns 16 in Miami: "I feel very proud to live here and to be Cuban"

"Every day I feel this city more like mine," said the actress on her Instagram.

Susana Perez He turned this November 30th 16 years in the United States, exactly in Miami, a city that took a while to get used to, but that now feels like its own.

The renowned Cuban actress remembered the date on Instagram and said he felt “very happy to have made the decision to be here. Every day I feel this city more like mine”.

Although he confessed that It was difficult for him to adapt to the city, does not forget the exact moment in which he realized that he already felt a lot of affection for this place, and it was precisely after the devastation that Hurricane Irma left in its wake. Seeing the fallen trees, the dirty streets and that landscape of destruction caused him great pain.

“I am not going to live as many years in Miami as I lived in Cuba, as I lived in Havana; However, it is a process of little by little taking over, feeling that this city is yours (...) I feel very proud to live here and to be Cuban because ultimately this city was mainly built by Cubans,” added the actress.

For Susana, the fact that people from so many nationalities from Latin America currently converge in Miami also makes it very rich in diversity and culture.

The artist took the opportunity to tell a funny anecdote about her trip to the United States. First, he spent 11 hours at the Havana airport waiting for the plane and as if that were not enough that day he had worn some shoes that he had saved for that moment, but these on the way broke completely: “I arrived in Miami that looked like a homeless person.”

“Throughout that Miami airport I had to drag my feet because I couldn't walk, my shoes all coming off, that was something that was embarrassing,” he said and although it is a nice anecdote now, at the time he admitted it was somewhat distressing.

Susana arrived in the United States with only $200 in her wallet that a friend had given her, but like many Cubans she was very happy to be able to reunite with her daughter and meet her grandson.
