The state-owned Telecommunications Company of Cuba (Etecsa) announced damages for the early hours of this Wednesday throughout the island.

"In the early hours of this Wednesday, December 27, the services and applications that require internet access via mobile data will be affected, from the Etecsa Wi-Fi sites and at home," says a note published in media officials.

The interruptions respond to maintenance work and user assurance, the information states.

He adds that Etecsa specialists plan to complete the actions within the scheduled time.

The poor Internet connection in Cuba is something that exasperates users, who pay high sums to the communications monopoly in Cuba, ETECSA, for a service that, far from improving, is getting worse and worse.

Last March, social networks were filled with complaints from Internet users who suffered from the poor work of the state company when trying to connect to the network of networks.

"The connection is so bad in Cuba that I wonder why the hell ETECSA sells services? "Do not offer more recharges for the crappy service you provide," demanded user Patricia Montse Serrat.

A year ago, blackouts affected telephone coverage and internet speed in Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus, official sources reported.

Likewise, in November the regime recognized that less than 8% of Cuban homes are connected to the Internet.

In an article published in the official newspaper Granma, the government said that "more than 282,000 homes have the Nauta Hogar service, with a clear intention to prioritize rural populations."

This represents just 7.23% of the island's housing stock, estimated at 3.9 million houses, and just 8,000 more new services than the previous year.
