Cuban Dennis Domínguez, father of young Lester Domínguez Ortiz, a young Cuban who was attacked with machetes in Holguín in March, reported that his son continues to improve and will very soon try to walk again.

“Lester feels very good health, he is being exercised to strengthen his neck due to the damage caused to the 32 points in his neck and as you can see, the bedsores have disappeared and without a tracheostomy: starting Monday, gym to start improving his movement and then wait for the first steps after 9 months of being bedridden,” he said in a Facebook post.

At the end of the year, this Cuban father reported that his son continues to improve his physical condition and remains very excited about the arrival of 2024, but not everything is idyllic.

“He is still in good health, waiting for the new year to begin to join the gym and intensify his rehabilitation exercises. Here you see me carrying water. The water has not been coming for two months and when someone states that he is a bedridden person, (in the government) they say that I have to raise it in advance," said the father.

This young Cuban was attacked in march and thousands of Cubans have followed his recovery process step by step on social networks, thanks to the messages that the father shares.

Lester has fought hard for his life and assured his followers that he will find the strength to get back up and conquer all his dreams.

Dennis recognizes that the Cuban doctors have helped his son get ahead, but he knows that in the collapse of the public health system in the country there is little chance that his son will receive the specialized care he requires and the supplies and medicines to recover perfectly.

In November the father said he will do everything in his power to get Lester out of the country, heading to the United States, even if it is through a route as complex as that of Nicaragua.
